Sunday Update - Play Ball And Go Home

We decided to make an end run for home with a stop at the National Baseball Hall Of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, NY.  We've been before but since we are members we receive free admission so stopping in for a quick run through is worth the effort.
We left Scotty's and hopped onto Rt 87 S.  Then onto a beautiful NY Rt 67 W to the NY Thruway exiting in Canajoharie and taking NY Rt 80 all the way into Cooperstown.  It's a great drive with beautiful scenery and in the Fall it is even prettier.
Cooperstown was not crowded at all and we were able to park on the street and walk to the Hall Of Fame.  We sort of sprinted through hoping to see the movie experience in the Grandstand Theater...but it was closed for the day.  I was quite disappointed. We did manage to see the new Latin ballplayer exhibit and some other new things along with the plaques for the latest inductees.  This year it was Mike Piazza and Ken Griffey Jr.  We wandered around the gift shop but left empty handed.
We walked down to the old, but remodeled, Lakefront Motel for a late breakfast and then walked into a few of the shops in town.  We bought Cheri a new charm for her Pandora bracelet.   We left town about 12:30 and drove south to Rt 88 and then onto the Southern Tier Expressway and home.  The weather was cool and wet most of the way and we arrived back in Lyndhurst at 6:45....exhausted but happy with out trip!

We love this place.

Sunday October 2

This morning we will pack up and start our drive back home.  We will miss our new friends but we know special thing are right down the road.

Saturday Update

We enjoyed our last organized ride of the event today.  The Central Adirondack Loop run.  We were lucky enough that for  a change we got to turn left out of Scotty's instead of right!  We drove through downtown Lake George and were soon on our way.   We had the top up all day and it was cloudy and about 50 degrees as we headed toward Lake Luzerne, NY, the self proclaimed Gateway To The Adirondacks.
It was a beautiful drive no matter that it was not sunny.  The foliage is just about at its peak.  We drove by too many bodies of water to mention.   From large lakes to small ponds it was spectacular.
We stopped in Indian Lake for lunch and pretty much overwhelmed the restaurant staff...and the plumbing!   We ate at the Indian Lake Restaurant and Tavern.  Much of their menu included items make with duck!
We stopped for a photo op and continued back to Scotty's after the 6 hour round trip.
We had our farewell dinner and shindig in the Scotty's party center.  The BBQ was catered and was extra good.  The crowd was wound up and it was lots of fun.  Cheri won some grill badges in the raffle and I won one game of BINGO which was more fun than it sounds!
It has been a wonderful trip and we are already hoping to make it back next year for Mini Of Boston's 5th annual Minis In Foliage.

Saturday October 1

I cannot believe it is the first day of October.    We woke up today with very cloudy skies and it rained over night.  We should be able to bundle up and make today's run no matter what.   Today we will make the Central Adirondack loop.  I'm not sure exactly where we will go but that makes it even better.   Tonight we will have a culminating event with dinner, raffles, and some fund raising for a local charity.   Tomorrow will have a chance to make an optional short run before leaving for home but we will wait and see what tomorrow brings!

Friday Update

We left the resort and went north on 9N yet again!   It seems to be our best way out of town and into the wild.   Once we made it to Ticonderoga we started to travel west toward the High Peaks of the Adirondacks.  Once we started to gain elevation the leaves really began to change and the temperature really began to drop!  It was a mostly cloudy day but we had the top down,  We were not alone!  Some roadster friends from Delaware also had their top down!
The scenery was great as we pulled into Lake Placid.   We stopped for lunch at a place called 'dack shack...(get it?)  as in adironDACKS.    It was a slow lunch and that was just what we needed to recharge for the return trip back to Scotty's.   We made one stop at Tupper Lake for a photo shoot and soon after that it started to rain.   We all pulled over for a moment so some of us could put our tops up!  On the way back we got caught up in the town of Warrensburg where they are having the "World's Largest Garage Sale".    It slowed us down a bit but it was fun to see all of the tents and junk for sale and all of the folks seemed to enjoy the unexpected Mini parade.

Friday Sept 30 - Lake Placid

Today some of us will leave Scotty's at 10:00 and drive into the Adirondack High Peaks where we will stop in Lake Placid for lunch.  Right now it is very cloudy and 54 degrees.  If the rain holds off it should be a nice drive.

Thursday Update

When we left at 10:30 in the morning Thursday it was sunny but crisp...and we had the top down!  Cheri had on gloves and a stocking cap as we headed north on 9N.  We continued on until we made our way to Crown Point, NY where we crossed Lake Champlain on the Champlain Bridge into Vermont!   It warmed up a bit and we motored through the country without a hitch.  The leaves are not at their peak Fall colors but they changed more and more as we headed north into farm country.  Once we made our way through Middlebury College into downtown Middlebury it was lunchtime.  Leader Paul had made reservations at The Lobby, a nice restaurant in a very old building right on Otter Creek.
After we ate we continued our long loop back to Lake George.  Along the way we stopped at an Apple Orchard/Cider Mill and sampled some very adult beverages!   The folks there were great and tolerated an influx of Miniacs with smiles!
We arrived back at the hotel at 5:30 and Cheri and I headed into Lake George for dinner.  The restaurant we went to first is closed for the season...bummer...we heard they had good lobster rolls.  We walked back and ate at The Lake George Beach Club and while it was windy and chilly the view across the Lake was beautiful!!
Back at Scotty's we hung out with a large group of new friend and finally called it a night around 11:00.
